Mullein plant has such a deep history! In Roman times Mullien was dipped in tallow and made into torches. There is a lot of folklore surrounding mullein. It has been used to drive away evil in both Europe and Asia and it also protects against magic as we can see in the tale of how Ulysses used mullein to protect himself against the wiles of Circe.
In modern days Mullien is used in magic and has inherited the name "Hag Stick".
The candles are perfect for ceremonies and outdoor gatherings. There is an element of magic to them when they burn and it's a rich sensory experience! They make a great centerpiece for holidays and celebrations
I respectfully forage and collect each mullein plant that I use for medicine and candle making. They are carefully dried and processed. Candle making is how I'm able to use every part of the plant. I normally burn the larger ones outside because they will put off a beautiful, thick smoke. I've burned smaller ones indoors but place them in a spot where sparks can fall and ignite dry leaves, flowers, etc.
